What makes us human?
Description
Following on from last weeks discussion, we started touching on a question that in itself deserves a dedicated discussion, that is–what makes us human? This question brings to light many different topics such as how we differentiate ourselves from other living beings, are we special? and if so, why? and what is the underlying essence that make each one of us a human.
Summary
We shared various opinions from defining the human by their genome, the three pillar structure of mind, body and soul, our ability of self-awareness and how it compares to other animals, to what point in the birth cycle can we accurately say that’s a human. As always, the question remains unanswered, but we left the discussion with the shared knowledge that even though we might not be able to define what makes us human, maybe the simple fact of trying is sufficient enough.
